Ontario Enters Into Forestry Discussions With Grassy Narrows

On September 8, the Ontario government announced that it will enter into discussions with Grassy Narrows First Nation on forestry-related issues, and that it appointed the Honourable Frank Iacobucci to lead the discussions.

The discussions with Grassy Narrows First Nation will focus on sustainable forest management partnership models and other forestry-related matters, including harvesting methods, interim protection for traditional activities and economic development.

The Grassy Narrows First Nation is located 80 kilometres north of Kenora and has a population of approximately 800 people.
