TORONTO, May 24, 2002—Torys LLP announced today that prominent senior intellectual property lawyers Conor D. M. McCourt and Eileen M. McMahon will join the firm on June 1, 2002. Also joining Torys' Intellectual Property Group will be McCourt and McMahon's team of seven associates and two technical consultants.
Conor McCourt has more than 20 years of experience in all areas of intellectual property, particularly in the chemical, biochemical and pharmaceutical patent, trademark and regulatory fields. He has managed intellectual property-related aspects of major business transactions and intellectual property litigation, and engages in the acquisition, licensing and strategic management of intellectual property assets. McCourt is a member of the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property, the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the International Trademark Association.
Eileen McMahon focuses on intellectual property and food and drug regulatory law. According to the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, she is one of Canada's most frequently recommended practitioners in biotechnology law. She is recommended as a top life sciences industry practitioner in Global Life Sciences Report and as a life sciences practitioner in European Counsel's Life Sciences Industry Report. McMahon is an advisory board member of BioBusiness and is a director of the Canadian Healthcare Licensing Association.
The associates joining Torys are Charles Boulakia, Nadine D'Aguiar, Joshua Death, Adrian Kaplan, Alex Porat, Lesley Rapaport and Melanie Sharman Rowand. MaryAnne Arnoldo and Theresa Fauconnier will join Torys as technical consultants.
